# Bring your own keys (BYOK)

> Add your own provider API keys to remove the limits on evaluation runs and have them billed to your account

## Why use your own keys?

### Billing

Evaluation runs are billed to your own provider accounts.

### Rate limits

When using Calibrate's default keys, all your evaluation runs have rate limits, which become a hindrance once you have tested your agent and want to scale your evaluations to a larger dataset. With your own keys, these limits are removed.

## Add a key

1. Open [Workspace settings → Bring your own keys (BYOK)](https://calibrate.artpark.ai/workspace-settings?tab=provider-keys).
2. Add each provider's API key. See [Setup](/integrations/setup) for how to configure different providers.
3. Click **Save**. Calibrate checks the key with the provider before saving it.

## How keys are used

* Once you add any key, every run in your workspace uses only your keys.
* A run that needs a provider you have not added a key for will not run.
* If you remove all your keys, runs go back to Calibrate's default keys and rate limits.
